Description Levitronix® has developed a revolutionary inline viscometer that has no bearings to wear out or seals to break. Inside the viscometer casing, a magnetically levitated rotor spins inside the fluid. The torque to drive the rotor is dependent on the viscosity of the fluid. A high precision torque sensor inside the bearingless drive unit continuously measures the torque, which is converted to dynamic viscosity. The absence of bearing friction and wear due to the Maglev technology, togather with the high performance control and measurement electronics, ensures extremely high repeatability. The wet parts of the viscometer had are fabricated from chemical resistant high purity fluorocarbon resins. The single-use viscometer head is fabricated from biocompatible (FDA, USP-VI, BSE/TSE and Animal free) gamma sterilizable polypropylene (PP) and has integrated a high precision temperature sensor. The rotor, motor and controller together with the viscometer sensor and the data processing unit are integrated into the driver housing, hence cabling and interfacing effort is reduced. Each Levitronix® Maglev single-use viscometer head is calibrated using a high precision reference viscometer and certified reference fluids, which are traceable to national standards. This ensures high accuracy for Newtonian fluids and high reproducibility of measurements.
